How I Started My Journey With Agile
December, 6th, 2011: Agile Tour Paris 2011 was my first big Agile gathering. At the time I had little experience, having started with Scrum with my team the year before.
We immediately felt something was better working that way, and I brought back lots of lessons learned to my teammates afterwards.
Arriving in Canada the year after, I participate in Agile Tour Montreal in 2012 and 2013: truly impressive gatherings with again, lots of knowledge added to my toolbelt.
It was so great that I decided to join the organising team for the next two editions, quite a experience to see the conference taking shape over the months! The learnings from organising an Agile conference — in an Agile way of course — was immense, I think I learned more by organising that participating! Thanks again for having me gang!!
Arriving in Switzerland, I start giving talks there and in France. My first talk in an Agile Tour conference is in Aix-Marseille in 2017, close to my hometown in the South of France. My brother Félix is in the room. The feedback of the audience is fantastic. Thanks everyone involved!!
The year after I’m invited by my friend Christoph, a colleague and friend, to participate in Agile Lean Europe (ALE) 2018 that exceptionally takes places in Zürich.
ALE was such a blast that we organised a meeting with Marc, another participant that I met earlier, to discuss organising an Agile conference in Zürich. We sat before the beginning of the second day and decided on a date.
Then Marc took the microphone and announced the event during the closing of the Open Space, Olena joined our new team, and this is how Agile Tour Zürich was born. We did it in just a matter of weeks. From nothing. From nowhere. I have no words to describe my gratitude, thank you Marc and Olena and all the people who helped and contributed to make it happen.
A few days after Agile Tour Zürich 2018 — so the first ever Agile Tour in Zürich —, I gave a talk at Agile Tour Paris and a keynote the day after in Aix-Marseille. What an honor it was, thank you so much everyone!!
In 2019 ALE again, in Porto (Portugal) this time. Amazing of course. I’ve even brought my girlfriend Karin there. She is a Lean Master, you can imagine the discussions we have at home.
In the meantime we were lucky to welcome Breeze in the team and here we go again, on the road for Agile Tour Zürich 2019!
Because it’s about the community, Agilists growing together. It’s about “individuals and interactions” and “doing it and helping others do it”.
Learning by sharing, contributing to changing lifes and improving the way we work and live together.
You take. You give. We share.
See you at the tour!
